Lesson Plan March 22

Thank for taking my class for today. Here is how things are planned to go (but feel free to change things up if you would like):

Have all the students go to Week Two - Day Four (they know) and all of the links will be there.

Start with the What's Your Background warmer. Put students in pairs (however you like, but I like to make them get up and move around - so try to put them with someone other than the person next to them). Have them go to the page and work on the exercise there. After they all seem to be done, put two pairs together (or three if necessary) and have them introduce their partner to the others.

Move on to the Hiring: Reading and have them work with their partner on the pre-reading questions. Once they seem to be done, have them work on their own on the reading. They will know what to do with that.

Then on to the Hiring: Listening. Once most of them have finished the reading, have all the students move on to the listening on their own. If they aren't finished the reading, tell them to do it as homework.

After they have finished the listening, discuss the two sentences at the end of the listening as a class. Introduce a review of the Present Perfect. Have them share what they know about the PP and then have them go to the Present Perfect Lesson and Practice site and go over the overview with them as a class. Have them work on the practice exercises on their own.

Put them into groups of three or four students and have them work on the Hiring: Slim Gyms Case Study. This should take a while, so if some are going really quickly, remind them that it isn't a race. This is an opportunity to practice their English, especially the present perfect. Wander around and prompt them to think about certain things.

If you still need stuff to do, you can have them work on the Email: Informal or Formal exercises. There is also a fun online game they can play. It is a kids game, but tell them to have fun and be a kid. It is on creating your own business. Tell them that it is important to follow the directions or the game won't make sense.

Don't worry about getting through everything. Just do what you can.

For the afternoon class, you will need to go to the Proverbs and Values page and get the document and the instructions there.
